What Newt’s Reading: The Democratic Party prefers not to grapple with the uneasy truth that the riots have harmed the lives of vulnerable people. It doesn’t want to admit the necessary work of police patrolling urban neighborhoods if stymied, poor people suffer. - Newt Democrats Are Pretending the Cities Aren’t Burning By Rich Lowry New York Post At their national convention last week, Democrats discussed a host of problems that America is experiencing. One problem that they refused to acknowledge, however, was urban unrest. Democrats are quick to chastise President Trump on any action he takes, yet they remain silent on the violence that a number of Democratic-run cities are experiencing. They stand behind their statements on the protests remaining “peaceful,” ignoring the rioting, looting, and arson. From Seattle to Philadelphia, unrest continues with little to no repercussions or denouncements from Democrats. For all the talk of Joe Biden being a candidate with a great moral track record, the Democratic Party as a whole is failing to condemn destruction and uphold law and order. When Democratic officials treat bars and casinos better than churches, religious freedoms, protected by the First Amendment, are under attack. It’s hard to find a single religious-rights case where the Democrats took the religious side. - Newt Joe Biden’s Leap of Faith By William McGurn Wall Street Journal The media presents Joe Biden as a devout Catholic to ease voters’ concerns regarding religious questions. Of course, Biden advocates “abortion on demand” and supports gay marriage. The issues of abortion and marriage equality have now led to the question of “whether those who dissent from the new orthodoxy will be permitted to live their lives and run their institutions in accordance with their beliefs.” For example, an Obamacare regulation that Biden supported required nuns to “violate their convictions by paying for contraception and abortifacients for their employees or face ruinous fines.” How can Biden call the nuns “lovely women” and then take such actions in good faith? While Biden and other Democrats claim to support “inclusion” and “nondiscrimination,” their actions threaten religious institutions of all kinds. She sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act, which “would invalidate any and all state-level protections for unborn children after the point of viability — indeed, up until birth.” Harris also targeted a journalist who was investigating Planned Parenthood selling aborted infants’ body parts illegally. Harris is expected to play a leading role in forming Biden’s policies, and she will likely look to pass abortion legislation that effectively devalues human life. Americans should look closely at Harris’s tactics “not because of the specifics of the policies, but because of the philosophy behind them.” President Trump said he was going to reduce America's regulatory burden, and he did it. We should remember that Trump delivered on his promises, not just for his party but for the American people. - Newt Trump’s Greatest Accomplishment By James D. Schultz CNN James Schultz has seen Donald Trump’s care and passion for the American people, working with the president firsthand. Schultz and other lawyers worked to help President Trump roll back many regulations that have harmed the economy. “An increase in real incomes by upwards of $3,100 per American household after 5 to 10 years” is projected from these deregulations. Federal agencies have grown far too large over the past few years, with no one keeping them in check. President Trump hopes to end this seemingly never-ending bureaucratic growth. One of his methods is to appoint judges who will properly regulate and uphold the law when it comes to these agencies. Former White House Counsel Don McGahn, who helped with the deregulation, said that the president looks for judges who are "committed originalists and textualists.” By reducing regulations and upholding basic liberties with judicial appointments, President Trump has kept his 2016 campaign promises. The Trump administration continues to take steps to combat human-rights abuses in China related to the imprisonment of Uighur Muslims and Beijing's population control policies. - Newt Trump Administration Combats Chinese ‘Culture of Death’ By Jack Beyrer Washington Free Beacon China and its human rights abuses have been the subject of debate for years, but the Trump administration is finally attempting to hold Beijing accountable. Since 2017, President Trump has established 13 policy actions to combat China’s abuses. The Uighur Human Rights Policy Act was enacted just this year to stop the oppression and mistreatment of Uighur Muslims. “Forced abortion, forced sterilization and other coercive birth-control methods, forced labor, sexual violence including rape in detention, compulsory home-stays by Han officials, and forced marriages” are just some of the atrocities that Uighurs have faced, according to National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot. The ruling Communist Party has always denied violating Chinese citizens’ human rights. The Trump administration hopes to end China’s population control and create a hopeful future for its people.
