Charity of the Month: Alzheimer’s Association

The Gingrich Foundation

The Gingrich Foundation is pleased to recognize the Alzheimer’s Association as its Charity of the Month for January.

More than 5.8 million Americans today are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and by 2050 that number could reach up to 13.8 million. This staggering rate of diagnosis makes the disease the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Millions of other Americans are caregivers for friends or family with this difficult disease — a responsibility which often takes a serious toll of its own.

Finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia is critical. This is the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association, which was founded in 1980 to promote scientific and medical breakthroughs to cure the disease and to improve care for those living with it.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides crucial financial support for research focused on these aims. In 2020 the projected national cost of caring for Americans with Alzheimer’s and other dementias is $305 billion. And in addition to funding research projects and sharing the latest discoveries, the Alzheimer’s Association publishes the leading scientific journal on the disease.

When a cure for Alzheimer’s is found, it will be thanks in part to decades of support from this excellent organization.

Beyond its scientific mission, the Alzheimer’s Association maintains facilities across the country, providing help and advice to millions of affected families.

We all know someone whose life has been changed by Alzheimer’s disease. For 40 years, the Alzheimer’s Association has been their leading champion and has done so with private funding. Its contributions to scientific research and to the well-being of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers have been and remain vitally important.

Please join the Gingrich Foundation in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association today.
