Last week, we asked readers “Do you know of anyone who contracted COVID-19 after the Thanksgiving holiday and has this changed your 2020 holiday plans going forward?” A total of 371 respondents contributed their thoughts and the results are now in!
Readers had four different options to choose from regarding COVID-19 contraction and its effect on their holidays. Roughly 48.52 percent (180 readers) said they didn’t know anyone who was infected and that their plans haven’t changed. Another 23.99 percent (89 readers) also responded that they didn’t have any acquaintances contract COVID, but that their holiday plans will still be different.
A small percentage of readers said they did know of someone who contracted COVID, with 16.98 percent (63 readers) saying their plans remain unchanged due to it, and 10.51 percent (39 readers) adjusting their plans.
It is certainly an encouraging sign to see such a small percentage of readers who have known someone that had COVID after Thanksgiving. Many remain cautious though as they wait their turn for the vaccine in the coming months. It will be interesting to see travel statistics following Christmas and New Year’s Eve as Americans look to celebrate the last days of 2020.
