Trump Orders Assessment of Security Risks of Chinese Drones

Prior to leaving office, President Trump signed an executive order to review the security risk posed by Chinese-made drones, along with those made in other adversary nations, in the American fleet and prioritize their removal.  Last month, the US Commerce Department blacklisted Chinese drone-manufacturing firm, SZ DJI Technology Co, from government use along with several other Chinese companies. In May 2019, the Department of Homeland Security warned about the security concerns posed by any product that takes sensitive American data to an adversary nation like China where its intelligence services have unfettered access to that information. In response, the US Interior Department grounded its fleet of around 800 Chinese-made drones, saying that they may be used in emergency circumstances.
