Governor Abbott Restores Free Choice

As the US approaches its oneyear COVID-19 anniversary, it seems we may begin seeing some transitions back to normal life. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Texas’ economy is going to be 100 percent open come next week. With small business’ continual struggle for survival, Gov. Abbott will now allow full capacity in all restaurants. Starting next week, Texans will also not be required to wear any masks.  

The governor has received backlash from some Texas Democrats calling the measures reckless as they fear an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizationsAbbott said, “Removing state mandates does not end personal responsibility. The risk for COVID-19 will continue to exist, but Gov. Abbott is again allowing residents to determine the level of risk they are willing to take.
