The Second Amendment is the Latest Piece of History Deemed ‘Racist’

Every day something new is being added to the list of supposedly racist ideas, people, etc., making it impossible to know if what you’re defending might be cancelled next.

A Flash Brief from Anna Paulina Luna:

Recently, it appears most controversies in America are the result of our country’s racism. From elementary math to voting laws, nothing is off limits, including the Second Amendment now.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) shared this idea earlier this month, believing the amendment channeled “unequal and racist application of gun laws.” The idea of continuing slavery as the reasoning behind implementing the Second Amendment is simply preposterous. Many of the Founding Fathers who disagreed with slavery supported the right to bear arms and later abolitionists such as Frederick Douglass and Ida B. Wells voiced their defense of gun ownership.

Every day something new is being added to the list of supposedly racist ideas, people, etc., making it impossible to know if what you’re defending might be cancelled next. While there are certainly problems rooted in racism in our country, viewing everything through this racist lens will only sow more division. Americans must learn from the racism in our history, while educating themselves to see past the fiction many on the left try to present.
