Multiple education groups are suing the Department of Education for assembling an allegedly partisan council of activists to field and address school and parental education concerns.
Organizations such as America First Legal, Parents Defending Education, and Fight for Schools are joining individual families who are suing the DOE over staffing decisions for the National Parents and Families Engagement Council. The council partners with the DOE to address critiques from parents and schools throughout the country.
The lawsuit intends to hold the Biden administration accountable to Federal Advisory Committee Act requirements and prevent the council from working until it conforms with the act’s rules.
