McLaughlin & Associates just released a new survey in Maine on The Corrupt Politicians Act, HR 1. When voters were asked about the details of HR 1, only 20 percent agreed that Congress should pass a new federal election law to override existing state laws, while 57 percent disapproved. Disapproval of HR 1 is tainting Speaker Nancy Pelosi's popularity with 51 percent of voters in Maine viewing her as unfavorable. The tide is turning on the whole issue of HR 1 and it'll be fascinating to see how public pressure moves against the democratic machine.
