The more I look at what Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib said about abolishing the police and prisons, the more I think it is a great place for us to draw a line and have a serious fight about what values we have. According to the city of Detroit 2020 crime report, there were 327 homicides in 2020, up from 275 the previous year. That is a 19 percent increase. Additionally, there were 1,173 non-fatal shootings in 2020, up from 767 the previous year — a 53 percent increase. I think it’s really important to look at this and recognize that Congresswoman Tlaib is totally out of touch with reality and has no concern for the hundreds of people killed.
