Two Polls: Huge Problems for Biden

Two recent national polls are devastating for President Joe Biden. Surprisingly, both came from the left-wing media – which normally does everything it can to protect the Biden presidency.

Two recent national polls are devastating for President Joe Biden. Surprisingly, both came from the left-wing media – which normally does everything it can to protect the Biden presidency.

A Washington Post/ABC News poll had a disastrous headline for the Biden team. It suggested that President Donald Trump would defeat Biden 52 to 42. This margin was so much larger than other polls that there was an immediate question of whether this was an outlier.

The other poll from NBC news fit the recent narrative with Biden and Trump tied 46 to 46. Even this result clearly illustrates the American people’s rejection of President Biden. The Post/ABC poll showed that by 62 percent to 23 percent Democrats would like a candidate other than Biden. NBC was virtually the same with 59 percent favoring a challenger to Biden and only 36 percent opposing a challenger.

In both polls Trump was clearly dominant in seeking the Republican nomination. The Post/ABC poll reported Trump at 54 percent. All other candidates combined for 43 percent. NBC had Trump at 59 percent to 38 percent for the rest combined. In both polls Gov. Ron DeSantis had decayed to a distant second place.

Biden’s weakness in these polls is a function of performance failures. In the Post/ABC poll, Americans reject Biden’s job performance by 56 percent to 37 percent. They rejected his performance on the economy by 64 percent to 30 percent. They repudiated his border policy 62 percent to 23 percent. This is not a problem in communications or better marketing. The American people are watching what is happening – and they don’t like it.

The same performance failures show up in the NBC poll. Americans overwhelmingly believe the country is on the wrong track (73 percent to 23 percent). Further, they disapprove of Biden’s general job performance by 56 percent to 41 percent.

Things get worse when specific areas are explored. On the economy, Americans disapprove of Biden by 59 percent to 37 percent. When asked if they are satisfied with the economy, 72 percent say “no.” According to the NBC poll, Vice President Kamala Harris cannot help Biden, because she is at 31 percent approval and 51percent disapproval.

I wanted to bring the two polls together because too much attention has been paid to the horse race aspect. The Post/ABC poll’s 52 percent Trump – 42 percent Biden result was so shocking that Democrats and Biden supporters have gone to great lengths to undermine it. But the fact is: Both polls squarely repudiate Biden’s policies and personal weakness.

If things don’t turn around, there is a real likelihood there will be a huge Democrat rebellion against Biden.

Ultimately, the people are sovereign in America.

It is useful to remember that when residents of São Paulo, Brazil got mad enough in in 1958, they elected the zoo’s rhinoceros to the city council by write-in. Cacareco was a 4-year-old rhinoceros, and she got more than 100,000 votes – ten times more than the top human candidate. Of course, the rhino was not allowed to serve, but people had some satisfaction in expressing their anger at the political establishment.

I am not predicting that a rhinoceros will win the New Hampshire or Iowa primaries against Biden. But if the discontent we are seeing in these two polls grows and intensifies, there will be a similar reaction from voters.
