Recent policies from the woke left are helping Americans see how truly out of touch the Democrats are, as is the case with a New York City Council candidate’s latest plan. Democratic candidate Tiffany Cabán proposed a plan that dramatically worsens police officers’ ability to enforce the law and doles out less punishment for criminals on the street.
Cabán’s “A New Vision of Public Safety for New York City” would require victims to meet with their assailants to develop an “accountability plan” rather than sentencing criminals. Many have publicly denounced her ideas, including other Democrats, with one councilman declaring the radical left must “wake up” to reality. Others believe Cabán’s plan will quickly backfire, as the police and courts will be unable to properly fulfill their duties, and criminals will walk away with fewer penalties.
The November general election will decide whether or not Cabán takes a place on the New York City Council in January 2022. Should Cabán win, it will be interesting to see how her relationship with the less radical Democrats in power affects state policies.
