By contrast, Gov. Abbott of Texas, the second-largest state, and Gov. DeSantis of Florida, the third-largest state, are doing great. They have great economies. They’re doing well handling COVID-19. They are generally popular. It just strikes me if you’re the party with the great governors doing great things, you’re probably in better shape than the party with really bad governors doing terrible things.
With Memorial Day coming up, Newt spends time with a veteran who’s making a difference. Lt. Col. Dan Rooney. In 2007, he started the nonprofit Folds of Honor, with the mission to provide educational scholarships to spouses or children of wounded or killed military service members.
In July 2012, a gay couple came into Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado asking for a custom wedding cake. The case went to the U.S. Supreme Court where he won by a vote of 7-2. Newt’s guests are Jack Phillips, and Jake Warner, legal counsel for the Alliance Defending Freedom.
