Last week, we asked readers: “When do you believe the country will hit peak (or the high point) of inflation?” A total of 1,049 readers responded to give their thoughts on the current economic turmoil the United States is facing.

Just over half of poll respondents believe that the peak will be “sometime in 2022”, with 55.58 percent (583 readers) of the vote. Another 19.54 percent (205 readers) stated that “quarter 4 of 2021” will likely be the high point, while 5.91 percent (62 readers) predict it to come in “quarter 3 of 2021.”

Finally, 1.14 percent (12 readers) believe “we are at our peak in quarter 2” right now, and 17.83 percent (187 readers) stated they were “not sure” when peak inflation would hit.

The state of the US economy has been a hot subject for many Americans since President Biden took office. Despite businesses reopening from COVID-19, prices are rising and businesses are also struggling to find workers.

Economists vary on their opinions of when the inflation might subside, but it is clear this issue is important to a great deal of people. It will be interesting to see what the government’s response will be in the coming months and whether or not stagflation might occur.
