The Labor Department is releasing the highly anticipated consumer price index (CPI) report providing a new look at the impacts of inflation in September.
Economists anticipate the gauge, which measures a basket of goods, including gasoline, among other common items, to show that prices rose 0.2 percent in September from the previous month, up from 0.1 percent in August. On an annual basis, inflation is projected to have climbed by 8.1 percent.
The report will likely show underlying factors for soaring home prices, including the more volatile measurements of food and energy, which are expected to climb 0.5 percent from the previous month and 6.1 percent from the same time last year.
